System Module Overview
The System Module supports system-wide preferences and system maintenance functions for all Xytech modules. Included in the module are the security applications for configuring user access controls throughout the system, the Contact Application for managing all of the businesses and individuals involved with your company, and the Document Customization Application for creating and managing custom fields (among other settings). Access to Layouts will be available to your System Administrators, who will be able to construct document layouts upon request.
System Security
The System Module provides a comprehensive level of security for each of the Xytech modules. Via the User, Layout, and Role Applications, you may assign access rights to virtually every element within the system on a per user basis and by the role(s) each user performs at your company. Security settings provide the ability to determine user access for commands, as well as access to individual fields within all the windows that comprise each module.
Contact Application
The Contact Application allows you to manage the contact information for all the individuals and companies that are involved with your organization. Additionally, you can establish one or more profiles (e.g., Customer, Vendor, User, Employee, Freelancer) for each contact record as required. Once a profile has been assigned to a contact, a variety of preference settings and other vital data specific to each profile type can be established. These settings control record creation throughout the system and establish default field values in a variety of applications.
User profiles can also be established and managed in the System Module’s User Application, but they need to be linked to a contact record. Additionally, a similar application window is available for employee profiles in the Time Card Module.
Layout and Document Customization Applications
The Layout Application will be available to System Administrators only. It allows for complete customization of what displays on almost every screen and report as well as how it displays. Multiple layouts can be created for each window type, giving the ability to design screens for specific functional roles or individual users. Modules pane options, screens, and individual fields can be renamed to suit your terminology or language requirements.
The Document Customization Application works in conjunction with the Layout Application in that it allows you to create an almost unlimited number of customized, non-standard fields for many applications, which can then be added to layouts. Additionally, standard fields can also be configured to be read only, hidden, required, to display a default value, or to control data entry based on a field input mask.
