Quick Time Card

The Quick Time Card option in the Modules pane takes users to a version of the Time Card Batch Maintenance Application that has been designed for quick entry of activities by the current User (e.g., the standard layout does not include the Info or Employees Tab Pages of the Time Card Batch Maintenance Application).

Once the Quick Time Card option has been selected, the system searches for unposted Batch records with an Employee profile that matches the currently logged in user. The Quick Time Card Application will open based on the following provisions:

  • If the system finds one unposted Batch for the current Employee User (regardless of date range), it opens the record using the Quick Time Card Application.
  • If the currently logged in Employee User exists as an Employee item on two or more unposted Batch records, the system will open the Batch with a date range that encompasses the current date. If no Batch encompasses the current date, the oldest Batch will open.
  • If the system cannot find an unposted Batch record for the current Employee User, it will issue a message that will give the User the option to access the Time Card Batches Search List Window so the User can search for the desired Batch record.

From the Quick Time Card Application, the ACTIONS BUTTON includes a special command called Batch Search. Selecting this command prompts the system to open a version of the Time Card Batches Search List Window, which will automatically display any other open Batches the current Employee is assigned to. This allows the User to select a different Batch than the one that opened automatically.

IMPORTANT! Beginning with version 7, Xytech has a stand-alone Quick Time Card document (document class = TcTimeCard, ID = 10116), so the system no longer uses a layout based on the Time Card Batch document (document class = TcBatch, ID = 10101). As such, the Quick Time Card value in the Purpose Field of the LAYOUT PROPERTIES WINDOW has been removed from the Time Card Batch document. If you were using a custom layout for the Time Card Batch document that was assigned the Quick Time Card purpose, you will have to recreate that layout using the Quick Time Card document.

SECURITY NOTE: Since the Quick Time Card document (document class = TcTimeCard, ID = 10116) and the Time Card Batch document (document class = TcBatch, ID = 10101) are different documents, Users must be assigned to ROLES that allow access to the proper document, if not both. (You can allow certain users to only access the Quick Time Card document and others – such as, managers and administrators – access to the Time Card Batch document or both.)
